We are taught how to move and behave in the external world, but we are never taught how to be still and examine what is within ourselves. At the same time, learning to be still and calm should not be made a ceremony or part of any religion; it is a universal requirement of the human body. When one learns to sit still, he or she attains a kind of joy that is inexplicable. The highest of all joys that can ever be attained or experienced by a human being can be attained through meditation. All the other joys in the world are transient and momentary, but the joy of meditation is immense and everlasting. Swami Rama
Right in the Center of every wheel
there is a point which is absolutely motionless. This is also true
about the wheel of life. But if you could go to the very Center you'll
find that actually without that central point there is no motion.
Meditation is going into that still point. It is not stopping the
movement of the wheel. It is not stopping to perform the acts and
duties but becoming aware of the still central point and at the same
time guiding the movement of the wheel. That is the art of living, and
therefore the art of dying. Swami Veda
Devotion,
in humility, wished to conceal itself. It disguised itself in pursuits,
actions, movements, and became known as work. Since then, those
with dim eye-sight, seeing people work, do not recognize devotion, and
thus devotion enjoys its solitude unknown, undisturbed.
Love is
all you have left when you let go of everything you love.
